INTRODUCTION
The six steps in the online filing process of the Sales and Use Tax Quarterly Return, ST-50/ST-50A, are described below along with a description of the View/Print function. You will have the ability to link to any instructional page from any of the steps for quick reference and explanations.
STEP 1 - LOGIN
STEP 2 - CHOOSE FILE/VIEW QUARTERLY RETURN, ST-50/ST-50A ENTER RETURN PERIOD AND TAX YEAR
STEP 3 - FILL IN THE SALES TAX QUARTERLY RETURN
STEP 4 - REVIEW PROCESS
STEP 5 - PAYMENT PROCESS
STEP 6 - RECEIVE CONFIRMATION OF FILING/PAYMENT

STEP 1 - LOGIN
In order to log in, you will need to enter the following:
Taxpayer Identification Number (ID#)
This is a twelve-digit ID consisting of the nine-digit Federal Employer Identification number assigned to you by the Internal Revenue Service, followed by a three-digit suffix. Enter the nine-digit FEIN and three-digit suffix. If you do not have a suffix, enter three zeros. Enter the number without dashes, slashes or any other keystrokes. (FORMAT 999999999000)
PIN
Enter the four-digit Personal Identification Number supplied by the Division of Taxation.
STEP 2 - PICK OPTION FILE/VIEW QUARTERLY RETURN, ST-50/ST-50A
Pick the Quarter Ending Month you want to File/View and the Tax Year
Month: Year:
Note: You may not file future quarters.
BUTTON BARS
At the bottom of each page are Control Buttons that will either move you to another page or will cause the program to take a specific action.
On the Login page the Buttons are:
- Submit- this button enters your request and if the information is correct will move you to the appropriate working page. If you selected "File ST-50 Online" this button takes you to the Sales and Use Tax Quarterly Return page.
- Reset- if you want to change any of the fields, clicking this button will clear all your entries.
- Help- this will take you to the Help pages
- E-MAIL- this will take you to the E-MAIL to the Division of Taxation page.
On the Sales and Use Tax Quarterly Return page the Buttons are:
- Calculate- this button orders the program to calculate your return. It also determines the balance due.
- Submit This Return- this will move you to the confirmation and payment pages.
- Reset- if you want to change any of the fields, clicking this button will clear all your entries.
- Help- this will take you to the Help pages
- E-MAIL the Division - this will take you to the E-MAIL to the Division of Taxation
- Logout- click to quit program.
On the first ST-50/ST-50A Sales and Use Tax Quarterly Return - Confirmation page the Buttons are:
- Return To ST-50/ST-50A- use to go back to prior page
- File and Pay Balance Due- use to file the return.
- Help- this will take you to the Help pages
- E-MAIL the Division - this will take you to the E-MAIL to the Division of Taxation
- Logout- click to quit program.
On the Sales and Use Tax Quarterly Return – ACH Debit Payment page the Buttons are:
- Return to Review- to go back to prior page
- Verify ACH Transmission and File Return- click this button to authorize payment via ACH Debit and to file the return
- Help- this will take you to the Help pages
- E-MAIL the Division - this will take you to the E-MAIL to the Division of Taxation
- Logout- click to quit program.
- Return to Processing Center - will return you to Options - Month/Tax Year screen
